Ways That Plastic Sheeting Can Be Useful Around Your Business
Light duty clear plastic sheeting is a common product that has a lot of uses. There are several ways you can put it to use around your business, and there are some things it works well for that might apply to items in and outside your business property.
Protective Covering
Painting and some repairs inside your office or production facility require you to protect the equipment in the area from paint or dust. Light duty clear plastic sheeting can often be an excellent option to lay over equipment and protect it.
Plastic sheeting is also a good option if you have a leak that allows water to leak in, and you can not simply move the equipment under the leak. The sheeting is available in large pieces that will cover the equipment, or you can use duct tape or plastic-based tape to connect several sheets to protect the equipment and keep them dry until the leak can be repaired.
It s essential to stretch the plastic tightly over the items you want to protect so that you do not have pockets in the plastic that can fill with water. Removing the plastic later with those pockets of water can be challenging to do without the water spilling on the equipment you have worked so hard to keep dry with the plastic sheeting.
If you are painting an area, you can use the light-duty clear plastic sheeting on the floor to cover carpeting or doorways to keep paint and dust in the room and people out. The material is extremely flexible and can be used to protect just about anything inside your offices temporarily.
Plastic Barriers
Light-duty clear plastic sheeting can be a good barrier between materials like insulation that are being added to walls in your building, or to windows that are drafty, as a temporary fix until a contractor can repair the glass. Plastic sheeting can create a vapor barrier that keeps water out of specific materials as well.
The plastic sheeting that you put over the insulation in your facility walls will keep water from getting to the insulation. It will protect people from getting the insulation on them until the wall is covered in sheetrock or another material and you can close up the wall.
For drafty windows, the plastic will stop the air from passing in around the glass and help to regulate the temperature inside the shop or facility for you. While it is not a permanent solution, light-duty clear plastic sheeting can be a great emergency fix to close the gaps until you can have repairs made.
